Spanish police: Terror cell was planning more attacks

This comes after several terror attacks which have involved the use of vehicles like cars, lorries and vans.

Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Mark Rowley said in a statement that British authorities were "liaising closely with the Spanish authorities and await further updates regarding the nationalities of the deceased and injured". Police believe the property was used to plan the attacks, and that the accidental explosion prevented a far deadlier attack, according to the Associated Press.

It said its fighters "ran over several Crusaders with a truck in the coastal town of Cambrils".

The five attackers died from a shootout with police.

A manhunt is underway in Spain for the driver of a van that ploughed into tourists on Barcelona's iconic Las Ramblas thoroughfare Thursday.

Hours after Thursday's attack in Barcelona there was a similar assault in the seaside town of Cambrils that left one woman dead.

Police believe the cell members had planned to fill the vans with explosives and create a massive attack in the Catalan capital. He was desperately loved by us all and will be dearly missed. Of the five attackers, two have been identified as Said Aallaa, 18, and Mohamed Hychami, 24.

Later Sunday, nearly 100,000 people are expected at Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium for FC Barcelona's first game of the season, which will be marked by a minute of silence for the victims.
